Conference Honors Handed out for Women's Basketball

Two Boilers received honors from the B1G coaches and media for their performances this season.

April Wilson and Ashley Morrissette received Big Ten Honors from the coaches and media yesterday. Senior guard April Wilson was named to the second team by the conference coaches and media members. Wilson was also on the All-Defensive Team as chosen by the coaches. Her passing, ball handing and defensive marks are among the best in the conference 5.7 apg-4th, 2.2 A/T-3rd, and 2.2 spg-2nd. Wilson lead's this year's team in scoring, assists, and steals. Junior guard Ashley Morrissette was an honorable mention selection for the coaches.  Morrissette has averaged 13.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Bridget Perry received the conference's sportsmanship award.

Rachel Banham of Minnesota was the conference Player of the Year. Nebraska's Jessica Shephard was the Freshman of the Year. IU head coach Teri Moren was Coach of the Year.

This week Dominique McBryde was named the conference's Freshman on the Week after her career high 23 point outburst against Rutgers. McBryde also had five rebounds and five blocks during the contest. Against Wisconsin she post five points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Purdue has a bye for the first round of the Big Ten Tournament this week in Indianapolis. The Boilers first game will be Thursday night at 9:00 against the winner of Illinois and Penn State. The game will be on BTN. They would face Michigan State if they win Thursday.
