This years NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament will start this weekend. Sadly our Purdue Boilermakers (22-10, 12-8) will not be participating. It is a little dismaying that Purdue didn't make the field but they did themselves no favors down the stretch. Purdue failed to beat top teams, and finished the season on a 6-8 run, including losing three straight to end their season. During which time the Boilers lost to a handful of lower ranked teams. Purdue was ranked No. 19 in the latest AVCA rankings but only had the 54th best RPI, eighth best in the Big Ten.

Despite losing this past week and incurring the first blemish on their record the Stanford Cardinal are the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. Texas is the second seed followed by Washington and Wisconsin who each are top teams in their respective regionals.

Unlike the Basketball Tournaments the top 16 teams are ranked and the distributed through the four regionals.

Penn State is the No. 5 seed in the same regional, Louisville, as No. 4 Wisconsin. Penn State will first square off against Sienna. Wisconsin will start their NCAA run against Western Michigan. Illinois is the No. 9 seed; they play Murray State in the first round of the Ames regional. No. 14 Nebraska will face Hofstra in the Seattle regional.

Ohio State is in the same regional as Penn State and Wisconsin. Their first match-up will be against Lipscomb.  Michigan State also made the Tournament. They'll face Loyola-Marymount in the first round. The Spartans are in the same regional as Illinois.

The full bracket can be seen here.

There are six B1G teams in the tournament. The Pac-12 led the way with 10 teams making the tournament.
