Earlier this week, the Lafayette Journal & Courier reported that Athletic Director, Mike Bobinski, was looking into the possibility of expanding alcohol sales throughout all of Ross-Ade Stadium.
“We are absolutely considering it,” Bobinski said. “We’ve talked to lots of folks about it, we’ve talked to our concessionaire about it. We are considering it.”
University President Mitch Daniels and the school’s board of trustees have given Bobinski and the athletic department the authority to determine the feasibility of increasing alcohol sales throughout the stadium.
Currently, alcohol is only sold in the premium seating areas in the Ross-Ade Pavilion along with the South End Zone patio built in 2014 when the old Lambert Fieldhouse bleachers were torn down.
According to the article, alcohol sales could start as soon as the home opener on Friday, September 8th when Purdue hosts the Ohio Bobcats.
If finalized, Purdue will join Ohio State, Minnesota, and Maryland as the only Big Ten schools to sell alcohol throughout the entire stadium.
Obviously, this is something we needed in Ross-Ade the last 8+ years. Let’s hope we drink to celebrate with a new coach in town.
Cheers!
