Via a release from Purdue Athletics, we have learned of four kickoff times for Purdue Football this upcoming season (all times EDT):
- September 2nd vs Louisville (Lucas Oil Stadium): 7:30pm on FOX
- September 8th vs Ohio: 8:00pm on FS1
- September 23rd vs Michigan (Homecoming): 3:30pm or 4pm, TV TBA
- October 21st at Rutgers: Noon, TV TBA
As you can see, Purdue’s first two games of the season will both be at night. If Travis were writing this article, we would mention something about Morgan Burke and lights or something. It will certainly be a test for Purdue, especially with the faster turnaround for a Friday night on September 8th. But Purdue and Coach Brohm can use this spotlight to show any progress that has been made over the offseason under the new leadership.
In addition, a surprising move was scheduling Michigan as a 3:30pm (or 4pm) kickoff rather than noon. Traditionally, Purdue kept its Homecoming Games at noon, but now that schools no longer have a direct say in kickoff times in September and October (one reason why Purdue had to get lights this offseason), the conference probably preferred a late afternoon kickoff.
And as expected, Purdue and Rutgers will kickoff at noon in Piscataway. Rumor has it that if both teams are performing poorly like they did in 2016, the game will be moved to the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan.
