In what can only be described as a huge reversal Coach Darell Hazell has announced that David Blough will start for Purdue against Bowling Green this Saturday. This despite the fact that the released depth chart showed Austin Appleby as the starter. You can see the tweet from Gold and Black below.

This is the third September in a row that Purdue has made a fall quarterback change.— GoldandBlack.com (@GoldandBlackcom) September 22, 2015
Hazell went on to say that one of the main reasons for the change was the amount of turnovers that Appleby has given up. I can't say I'm particularly surprised by this but it does seem a bit odd given that Appleby supposedly took much better care of the football during camp and during the spring. Hazell even highlighted this as one of the reasons that Appleby was given the nod over Blough to start the year. This will mark yet another QB change at the position that used to know such stability at Purdue. Not since Joey Elliot in 2009 has Purdue had the same QB start and finish every game. Will this be enough to spark the offense or will the Shoopfense still dog this team regardless of who the QB is? We shall see as we move forward to Bowling Green. We will have a more in depth look at this later on as well as more from the press conference later in the day. Stay tuned.
