2 Days To Purdue Football: Da’Wan Hunte and Jonathan Curry

With two days to go we have two sophomores.

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

We're about 48 hours away from the start of the season, but today's players are a little lesser known.

Jonathan Curry - So.

Phenix City, AL (Central HS)

6'2", 249 pounds

Fullback

2014 Projection: Possible contributor at fullback

Fullbacks are few and far between, but Curry is a big one. At 6'2" and 249 pounds he could easily step in and plow the road sometime later this season. He has been at Purdue for two years, redshirting one and sitting the other. He was originally a tight end, but his sheer size has moved him to more of a lead blocking role.

Da'Wan Hunte

Miami, FL (Miami Central HS)

5'9", 175 pounds

Cornerback

2014 Projection: Contributor at Cornerback

Hunt is a smaller corner, but the departure of Ricardo Allen has opened a role for him as a promising cornerback coming out of his redshirt season. He is another Miami boy, and was a three-star recruit that was part of a pair of Class 6A state championships teams for Miami Central in 2010 and 2012. That's damned impressive in the competitive south Florida football culture.

Currently, Hunte is second on the depth chart behind senior Antoine Lewis. He will probably play extensively as a result.
