Purdue has had the secondary as a target of interest for some time, and safety in particular was a concern this past season. Fortunately, help is on the way with the latest signee for Jeff Brohm’s 2020 recruiting class.

As a 6’2” safety he brings a lot of size to the position. Like most of the class so far, he is a 3-star commitment. Purdue has some experience returning at the position with the likes of Jalen Graham, Brennan Thieneman, Simeon Smiley, and Marvin Grant, so there is no rush to the field for Stevens. If he wants to come in and start kicking ass immediately, however, t hat will be fine.
I am excited to have a big safety back there. Purdue has struggled mightily to cover the middle of the field and get stops on third and long, so hopefully Stevens can be a player that alleviates this in time.
