Name: Bryce Austin

Hometown: Southfield, Michigan - Southfield High School

Position & Size: Defensive Tackle, 6-2, 290 Pounds

Rating (247): 3* (86)

Offers: Arizona, IU, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Minnesota, Pitt, WAZZU, West Virginia

Thoughts:

Purdue is always looking for interior defensive line help.

Bryce was essentially recruited by the entire mid-west, fielding offers from all MAC schools as well as the list above.

Bryce is probably more of a 3-tech, rather than a nose tackle. He has pretty solid speed for a defensive lineman. Don’t expect him to slide out to defensive end. I believe he is solely an interior defensive lineman, similar to Lawrence Johnson.

Austin will have a chance to play at some point this year. Injuries happen and we aren’t particularly deep with the interior defensive line. He may not play a ton, but do not be surprised if CoacH Brohm uses those 4 games that are allowed with freshmen now.

Welcome to Purdue, Bryce. Boiler Up!
