Name: Tyler Hamilton
Position: Wide Receiver
Ranking: 3* by Rivals, #12 in South Carolina, 4* by ESPN
By now you should realize that we have a shortage at the wide receiver position. We graduated our top 4 wide outs, that is why the position has been such an emphasis this off-season since Coach Brohm has been hired. CJ Hayes, Tyler Hamilton and Darius Pittman are all high school kids coming in. The position has largely been ignored the last couple of classes under DH and now we are behind the 8 ball.
NSD is tomorrow, but Tyler Hamilton is already enrolled. Meet the speedy wide receiver & hear why he chose Purdue! https://t.co/NGqw4IcBqf— Purdue Football (@BoilerFootball) January 31, 2017
Hamilton is a slot receiver through and through. At only 5’9” 160 pounds, he will be great in open space and one on one against slower linebackers. He won’t be n outside receiver. Look for him to do some on special teams as well, as a returner on both punt and kick return.
According to his HUDL page, he is running a 4.49 forty yard dash and has a 39 inch vertical. Those numbers alone tell you how great of an athlete he is. He also has a squat max of 525(!) pounds! He is literally tripling his weight on his squat max.
You can check out his highlights below, it shows how explosive this kid truly is, he is going to be a good one in our new offense under Brohm. I am looking forward to seeing some big plays from him.
