Purdue head coach Matt Painter loves to have his players play close to their hometowns. He’s done it in the past for numerous players as a nice homage to the hard work they’ve given to the program. I can’t recall anything like this one though. Purdue will head to Canada to take on Alabama in Toronto, Canada. Alabama originally had a player from Toronto on the roster, Charles Bediako, but he headed to the NBA Draft and did not return to Alabama. So, the city of Toronto should have no divided loyalties. Should be an Edey heavy crowd. Right?
This is part of a two game event known as the Hall of Fame Toronto Series hosted by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The second game is Clemson vs. TCU. So it should be a good couple games.
Purdue has just one loss on the season while Alabama sits at 6-2. They were receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25. Both these teams received #1 seeds in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Both also held the #1 ranking in the AP poll last year. It should make for a very good matchup.
