Merry Christmas - Purdue Men’s Basketball Remains #1 in AP Poll

What more could a Purdue fan want on this fine day?

Obviously there are more important things going on in the world today, but I guess the same could be said for every day, but the sports world continues to move. As my wife puts our son to bed on what has been his fourth Christmas I wanted to take the time to let you all know that the Purdue men’s basketball team remains atop the AP Top 25.

It’s the third week this season that Purdue has been the number one team in the nation and with just one game this week, against Eastern Kentucky who currently sits at 263 on KenPom (eight spots better than Jacksonville), it seems very likely that Purdue will head into their game at Maryland as the #1 team in the nation. Going into the bulk of Big Ten season as #1 is a hell of a thing and something none of us should take for granted.

Elsewhere in the Top 25 we see some notable names which I’ve taken the liberty of listing for you below.

  • #4 Arizona - Purdue victory
  • #6 Tennessee - Purdue victory
  • #10 Marquette - Purdue victory
  • #11 Illinois - Future Opponent
  • #13 Gonzaga - Purdue victory
  • #23 Wisconsin - Future Opponent

Other notable names receiving votes include (in order): Ohio State, Michigan State, and Northwestern (Purdue’s lone loss).

So celebrate Christmas today with a little extra pep in your step knowing that Purdue men’s basketball remains #1.
