The Purdue women’s basketball team was outplayed in almost every aspect of the game Sunday when #14 Notre Dame beat the Boilers 76-39.
Taking care of the basketball has been an issue all season and this game was no different as Purdue turned the ball over a whopping 21 times. You aren’t going to beat many teams with that many turnovers and certainly not one to the caliber of Notre Dame.
To make things worse the Fighting Irish held Purdue to just a 24.6% shooting percentage and no Boiler reached double figures. Abbey Ellis led the team with 8 points and Mary Ashley Stevenson grabbed 6 boards.
Purdue did force 17 turnovers but only converted 6 points from it. Notre Dame shot over 50% and couldn’t contain Hannah Hidalgo who led all scorers with 23 points. The Irish were able to convert Purdues’ 21 turnovers into 26 points.
Purdue closes out to non-conference slate on Wednesday against Indiana State in Mackey. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. The game also marks Tim Newton’s 1,000th on air for the Boilermakers.
