Former Purdue wide receiver Deion Burks announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners via On3. The speedy receiver led the Boilers in receptions (47), receiving yards (629), and receiving touchdowns (7). Burks was largely considered one of the best players in the portal regardless of position, checking in at #19 (12/12/23) on 247Sports. Purdue is also looking to replace fellow receiver TJ Sheffield.

Purdue has made a relatively strong push in the portal so far with the verbal commitments of three highly regarded offensive linemen in Joey Tanona (Notre Dame), Corey Stewart (Ball State), DJ Wingfield (New Mexico) and defensive lineman Jamarius Dinkins (Kentucky). This places Purdue 6th in the current 247Sports transfer rankings as of 12/12/23.

Purdue is currently battling for a number of receivers in the portal including Donovan McCulley (Indiana), Cyrus Allen (Louisiana Tech), Chris Brazzell (Tulane), and Jamal Banks (Wake Forest). Purdue will look to add as many as 5 or 6 receivers from the portal this cycle to replace the talent that left with Deion Burks, TJ Sheffield, Mershawn Rice, Abdur-Rahman Yaseen, Curtis Deville, and Trey Firestone.
