Zach Edey Again Named Big Ten Player of the Week

He’s now tied for second ever in the league.

What more can be said about Zach Edey at this point? He’s just tall right?

For the second time already in this young season Purdue big man, and reigning National Player of the Year, has won the conference’s player of the week award. This is now Edey’s 8th time winning this award throughout his career. He now has the most Big Ten Player of the Week honors of any Boilermaker in history and trails just one big name from the conference’s history.

Who is ahead of him looking behind his shoulder? That would be Evan Turner, the Ohio State phenom who is, without a doubt, one of the best college basketball players I’ve ever seen play. That man could do anything and everything on the basketball court and made it all look easy. What a player he was.

However, Zach Edey needs just two more conference honors to tie him for the record and three to surpass him and sit alone atop the standings. Given the way that Purdue has leaned on him this year I would not be surprised to see Edey win three more of these this year and become the winningest player in conference history. Something to watch going forward. Purdue will take on #1 Arizona this Saturday in Indianapolis.
