Purdue Rises in Latest AP Top 25

So close to a #1 vs. #2 matchup this weekend.

After rising all the way to #1 earlier this season, and then falling to Northwestern, Purdue fell all the way to #4 in last week’s AP Top 25. After taking down Iowa and Alabama it was Purdue’s chance to rise up in the rankings once again.

Purdue jumped over Houston to be #3 in the latest poll. Houston got jumped despite still not losing a game this season. Houston did receive the one first place vote that did not go to future Purdue opponent Arizona.

Elsewhere in the Top 25 numerous Purdue opponents or future opponents were represented. Notable names on th list include:

  • #1 Arizona - 12/16 game
  • #7 Marquette - W 78-75
  • #10 Gonzaga - W 73-63
  • #12 Tennessee - W 71-67
  • #16 Illinois - 1/5/2024 & 3/5/2024 opponent
  • #23 Wisconsin - 2/4/2024 & 3/10/2024 opponent
  • #25 Northwestern - L 88-92 (OT) - Next matchup 1/31/2024

Others receiving votes relevant to the Boilermakers were Alabama (W 92-86) and Ohio State who Purdue will face on 2/18/2024.
