Following Feast Week, some B1G teams are on the rise, while some ate too much and dropped.

Big Ten Basketball Power Rankings: Week 3

1) Purdue (-)
W vs #11 Gonzaga (N), #7 Tennessee (N), #4 Marquette (N)
#1 in Maui, #1 in the country, #1 in power rankings.

2) Nebraska (+1)
W vs Duquesne, Fullerton
Until Nebraska loses, they stay. The Huskers get their first big test when they take on #15 Creighton this week. Winner claims the state (I don’t make the rules).

3) Illinois (+3)
W vs Western Illinois
Illinois has one slight blemish this year in a loss to Marquette and is looking dominant against lesser teams.

4) Indiana (+1)
W vs Louisville (N), Harvard
Indiana’s only loss is to UConn. Despite winning games in non-dominant fashion, they are still winning games.

5) Northwestern (-1)
W vs Northern Illinois
The Cats got back on track with a win over NIU. They’ve got a shot at a signature win when they host Purdue on Friday.

6) Iowa (-4)
L vs Oklahoma (N), W vs Seton Hall (N)
Iowa split its game in San Diego and much like years past, the Hawkeyes can score in bunches.

7) Michigan State (+1)
L vs #3 Arizona (N)
You might wonder how a team went up in the rankings despite losing. Well, for one thing, Penn State had a very rough week. And for another, the Spartans kept it close on a neutral court to arguably the second-best team in the country.

8) Ohio State (+3)
W vs #17 Alabama (N), Santa Clara (N)
The win of the week on the mainland goes to the Buckeyes. After sweeping the Emerald Coast Classic, OSU also only has a single loss to a ranked team.

9) Wisconsin (+4)
W vs #24 Virginia (N), SMU (N), Western Illinois
Wisconsin came to play in Fort Myers and have won 4 in a row overall. The Badgers are starting to click on defense, allowing 41, 61, and 49 points in their last three games.

10) Rutgers (+2)
W vs Saint Peter’s
Rutgers rising has more to do with other teams falling, but a 1-0 week is never a bad thing.

11) Michigan (-2)
L vs Memphis (N), W vs Stanford (N), L vs Texas Tech (N)
It was a tough Battle for Atlantis for the Wolverines. Having their head coach back didn’t provide as much of a spark as expected.

12) Maryland (+2)
W vs UMBC, South Alabama
Maryland really needed these wins and the Terps are finally off the schneid and have their first winning streak of the year.

13) Minnesota (-3)
W vs Arkansas Pine-Bluff, L at San Francisco
The San Francisco lost just rubbed me the wrong way. It shows where Minnesota is as a program and that is pretty low.

14) Penn State (-7)
L vs #15 Texas A&M (N), Butler (N), VCU (N)
On the bright side, Penn State got to go down to Orlando for the break. That’s where the good times end as the Nittany Lions took a beating in the ESPN Events Invitational.
