Purdue is the Maui Invitational Champions for the first time in program history. After the game Purdue head coach Matt Painter talked to the media about everything from the game against Marquette to recruiting Zach Edey and what he saw in him. It was an interesting conversation in which Painter talked about projecting a future onto players in recruiting and how dangerous that can be.
Painter was joined in the post-game by Lance Jones and Zach Edey. Jones talked about the incredible 3/4+ court shot that he nailed at the end of the half. Edey was asked about the tournament in general and how the team responded to three games in three days. It’s always fun to listen to these guys talk about the game of basketball.
Everyone was in good spirits after the championship as you would expect. At the end of the tournament, Zach Edey was named the tournament MVP. It was yet another well deserved honor for Purdue’s workhorse.
