Purdue vs. Indiana: Opening Odds

The powers that be predict that The Old Oaken Bucket is going to stay right where it is.

NCAA Football: Purdue at Indiana Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

This weekend, the Purdue Boilermakers will host the Indiana Hoosiers in the 125th battle for The Old Oaken Bucket. Purdue leads the series 76-42 with six ties. For two teams with matching records, who has the edge?

According to oddsmakers, the home team will be favorites on Senior Day at Ross-Ade. The Boilers open up as 3.5-point favorites over their visiting in-state rivals. Purdue will see the return of starting quarterback Hudson Card as the offense looks to return to the high-octane form they exuded against Minnesota before Card was ruled out for last week’s game at Northwestern.

The over/under is 54 points for the noon game to be broadcast on BTN. First year Purdue head coach Ryan Walters is looking at building recruiting momentum while his counterpart Tom Allen sits on a seat so hot it’s almost as red as his players’ helmets.

The Boilermakers have a two-game winning streak in the series, having beaten the Hoosiers 30-16 on the road last November following a 44-7 beat down in West Lafayette in 2021. Let’s make it a three-peat, yeah? And more like 2021 if possible?
