The Big Ten Conference announced the conference slate for the upcoming season for both men’s and women’s. Purdue Women’s Basketball is heading into a season of uncertainty, nerves and excitement all rolled into one.
Versyp, Gearlds and the crew now have their full schedule locked and loaded for the 2021-22 season. Out of the 30 game slate, Purdue will host 16 games inside Mackey Arena in total.
The home schedule for the revamped Boilers includes: Ohio State, Rutgers, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State, Illinois and Wisconsin in that order.
On the flip side, Purdue will travel to Maryland, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Indiana, Rutgers and Northwestern.
This season’s home-and-away splits feature Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern and Rutgers. Single play opponents will be Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota.
A few things to point out about the Boilermakers path to March Madness this season:
- Quite possibly the toughest stretch for Purdue will come in mid-January with three straights contests against Michigan State, Iowa and Indiana who all figure to be ranked coming into the season.
- Drawing Illinois and Wisconsin as home-and-away splits could be huge to steal three or four conference wins. Illinois and Wisconsin were right at the bottom of the conference last season and do not figure to have drastic changes this year.
- The Big Ten is stacked as always. Even with games against lower competition, there are no givens with the level of basketball being played in the Big Ten. Purdue will have to prove themselves day in and day out if they want to have a successful season.
Fans will be anxious to see how the new look Purdue Boilermakers fare this season amidst massive changes within the program.
