It’s been a long time since Purdue has played at Notre Dame in South Bend. The year was 2012, and Purdue very nearly ended an undefeated season for the Irish, falling on a late field goal. That was the season in which there were only two undefeated teams: Notre Dame and Ohio State. Purdue very nearly took down both on their home fields.
The mists of time have a ton of Purdue upsets of Notre Dame, but the last half century has been nothing but pain and heartbreak in South Bend. Purdue has a single victory at Notre Dame Stadium since 1974, but it was a big one as Kyle Orton and Taylor Stubblefield bombed away on the Irish in 2004. Outside of that, there were a ton of close calls, but no other victories.
Purdue has not beaten a top 10 team away from home since that 1974 win, and hasn’t beaten any ranked team away from home since beating #25 Northwestern in 2010 (and they were only in the coaches poll).
