Just like if it’s Sunday it must be Meet the Press, if it’s Monday it must be the Hammer and Rails podcast. We are back in your eyes once again this Monday morning.

This week Casey and I start off with a discussion of Purdue’s greatest Olympian, Ray Ewry. Never heard of him? You’re not alone.

  • How far do you think you could jump from a standing perspective? I guarantee you it’s not even close to what Ewry could do.
  • Why does no one remember this guy?

After a discussion of Purdue’s greatest Olympian we talk about the Athlon Sports article that gives anonymous quotes about Big Ten football teams. The quotes for Purdue are...not good.

Finally, we continue our series looking at the 2021-2022 basketball roster. This week we talk about Zach Edey and Brandon Newman. The Big Maple goes first and then we follow up with Newman.

  • Is Edey a top three player on this team?
  • What has to happen for both Williams and Edey to play at the same time?
  • Is Newman’s athleticism enough to overcome some shortcomings?
  • Will Newman’s focus for next year be on three point shooting or his ability to cut and get to the rim?

All this and of course a recommendation. Plus, Casey’s dog Bruno makes an appearance! Take a listen, let us know what you think, rate, review, and hammer that subscribe button!
