Today’s player is another one that is likely a critical player on the defense.
Marvin Grant - So.
Detroit, MI (Martin Luther King HS)
6’2”, 210 pounds
Safety
2021 Projection: Starter
I was very excited when Purdue picked up Grant as a four-star safety out of Michigan in the 2019 class.I had visions of Stu Schweigert patrolling then middle of the field. A shoulder injury limited him to two tackles in three games as a true freshman in 2019, but he held on to his redshirt. Last season he saw action in four games as a reserve, but made his presence known. He had 14 tackles and two forced fumbles, one of them resulting in a touchdown at Illinois.
Grant is a big, hard-hitting safety the can be a true difference maker in the middle of the field. Paired with Cam Allen who causes turnovers, Purdue has a pair of young safeties that can really surprise people this year in my opinion.
