Purdue wanted to change up its defense in the offseason, so it hit the transfer market hard. That brought us today’s player.

Jamari Brown - Jr.

Sunrise, FL (University of Kentucky)

6’3”, 205 pounds

Cornerback

2021 Projection: Starter

Combined with Cory Trice, Purdue could have a pair of big corners this year as both are 6’3”. Brown has been a regular the last few seasons at Kentucky, playing in 15 games and starting a few after redshirting in 2018. He was slowed last year by a hamstring injury that limited him to 4 games. In 2019 he played in 11 games and started three, notching 25 tackles and seven pass breakups.

Brown was brought in to play immediately, and he could be a day 1 starter. Combined with an improved pass rush (it really couldn’t have been worse last year once George Karlaftis went down), Brown can help transform the defense into one that can get some stops and get off the field.
