Today’s player is coming off of a redshirt year and looking to provide depth at safety.

Ryan Brandt - Fr. (RS)

Angola, IN (Angola HS)

6’1”, 210 pounds

2021 Projection: Reserve

Officially, Brandt redshirted last year and did not play in any games. This was after a high school career that saw him earn three stars as a recruiting prospect. In his sophomore and junior seasons he helped Angola tot heir best seasons in decades. In 2017 as a sophomore Angola went 12-1 and reached the semi-state before losing to Ft. Wayne Dwenger. It was their first sectional and regional titles since 1992. The next season Angola repeated as sectional champions, but lost to Dwenger in the regional.

The official Purdue roster lists him as a safety, but he played linebacker in high school. He also played on offense. This versatility could help him see the field at some point this season.
