Today we meet a sophomore linebacker who has a strong family connection with Purdue.

Clyde Washington II - So.

Medford, NJ (Lenape HS)

6’3”, 220 pounds

Linebacker

2021 Projection: Reserve

As mentioned, it is a family affair for Washington. His grandfather also played football at Purdue in the 1950s. That was a strong enough connection for him to jump at a Purdue offer out of New Jersey as a three-star linebacker.

So far, the development is ongoing. Washington redshirted in 2019 and played in two games as a reserve. He had a solo tackle against Illinois for his only statistic.

Washington looks like a reserve linebacker this season, but that is a good thing. Coach Brohm is pleased with the depth he has at linebacker, and you can likely count Washington among that depth. He is a player that can serve as a reserve and possibly get time as a special teamer since there is always a need there.
