The big man from Fort Wayne should play a large role in 2021.

On the defensive line you need large gentlemen that are able to push other large gentlemen out of the way. That is today’s player.

Lawrence Johnson - Jr.

Fort Wayne, IN (Snider HS)

Defensive Line

2021 Projection: Starter

The time is now for Johnson to be an answer. He has the size to be a solid defensive tackle in the Big Ten, and he enters this year with experience. After playing in just two games and keeping his redshirt in 2018 he burst onto the scene in 2019, playing in all 12 games and even starting nine times. He finished with 21 tackles and he had four each against TCU and Indiana. In last year’s abbreviated season he played in all six games and started twice, notching four tackles.

I think we can expect Johnson to be a solid contributor this year and the probable starter up front along side Anthony Watts. He is also a two-time Academic all-Big Ten selection.
