Today’s player has not been in West Lafayette... Long, but he decided to stay an extra year.

Offensive Line

2021 Projection: Starter

Long came to Purdue last season as a graduate transfer and immediately helped solidify the offensive line. He took up residence at right tackle and started all six games, earning honorable mention all-Big Ten honors.

That was thought to be the end of it, but COVID did weird things. Since last year essentially did not count for eligibility purposes and since he was already in his final season, he gets to take advantage of an extra year. Not only that, his scholarship this season does not count against the 85 limit. It seems likely he is going to shift over to left tackle with the departure of Grant Hermanns, but he has playing experience dating back to 2016:

2016: Played in 9 games with 4 starts as a true freshman.

2017: 2 starts before a season-ending injury at UTEP.

2018: Missed entire season

2019: Played 8 games at right tackle at UTEP.

2020: Started 6 games at right tackle at Purdue.

It is great to have his experience on the roster.
