Today we feature a guy that has been through a lot at Purdue. He has battled injury, but enters 2021 as a player in the mix to start on the offensive line.

DJ Washington - Sr. (5)

Louisville, KY (Ballard HS)

6’4”, 315 pounds

Offensive Line

2021 Projection: Possible starter

Washington has been a Brohm prospect from day 1, as he signed on as part of the 2017 recruiting class. He redshirted in 2017, then only saw action in the 2018 blowout at Minnesota. Patiently waiting for a couple years is an admirable trait, and it paid off in 2019 when Washington was an Academic all-Big Ten selection and he moved into the lineup as a rotation player.

That’s when Minnesota happened. All the headlines went to Rondale Moore and Elijah Sindelar being lost for the season against the Gophers in 2019, but Washington was the third player lost in the first half of that game with a broken leg.

He returned to play in all six games last season, even making one start. At minimum, he is a player expected to be in the rotation up front. He could end up starting at guard, too.
