Time to start profiling the big uglies

Today marks the crossing into the 70s on our football countdown, and that often means the offensive line. Let’s start with a promising redshirt freshman.

Jared Bycznski - Fr. (RS)

Berea, OH (Berea-Midpark HS)

6’5”, 300 pounds

Offensive Line

2021 Projection: Reserve

Bycznski redshirted last season and did not play, so we don’t know a lot about where he projects, but like most offensive linemen in the Big Ten, it could take some time for him to develop. Purdue has hit the transfer market hard for the line, so the three-star recruit from Ohio definitely has time to grow. At 6’5” he at least has good size.

He projects mostly as a guard, and he was a First Team Division 1 player in Ohio back in 2019. He started 40 games in his career and played all over the offensive line, playing all five spots. That versatility is how he will find the field at Purdue.
