Coach Painter is bringing in his third recruit for the 2022 class in 6-5” wing Camden Heide out of Minnesota.
Heide is a top-100 recruit and a composite four-star, and the highest rated player in Painters ‘22 class. 247 has his ranked as the 65th best player in the country.
Heide was drawn to the laid back nature of Coach Painter’s staff and Purdue academic prestige. It also didn’t hurt that Painter has had success with players with similar skill sets to Heide.
Heide has a great body, his 6’5 frame is an ideal 200 lbs, making him a perfect perimeter player on the wing. He uses this strength to attack the hoop. He’s a strong leaper off one leg, relying on his size and strength to go through defenders rather than elite change of direction.
Heide is a very good shooter. He is comfortable with the ball in his hand and has a very quick and compact shooting motion. His lower body is smooth and he doesn’t rely on a big leap into his shots.
Heide is a perfect compliment to a back court heavy recruiting classmates, Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer. Both of Painters other recruits are ball handlers that can shoot, but they are both on the smaller, skinnier side. Heide brings a physicality to the court on both sides of the court.
It’s unclear who else Painter will look to add to this class, but Heide’s addition cements a strong collection of shooters and guards for 2022.
