Before COVID canceled a good portion of the non-conference season for 2020-21 Purdue was slated to face West Virginia in the World’s Most Overrated Arena as part of the Hall fo Fame Invitational. In 2021-22 Purdue will be headed back to New York, but to which burrough?
Yep, Purdue is headed to the Barclay’s Center to face the NC State Wolfpack.

This will be the third ACC opponent of the non-conference season, as Purdue is scheduled to face North Carolina in the Hall of Fame Tipoff and will have a likely home game in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. It also will be the first of likely two mid December games on a neutral court as the Crossroads Classic is likely a week later in Indianapolis against Butler. NC State was 14-11 this past year and 9-8 in the ACC. They last made the NCAA Tournament in 2018.
Purdue last played NC State in the 2014 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, winning 66-61 in Mackey Arena on 12/2/2014. The Boilers are 1-4 all-time against them, Losing in 1971 and 1974 as well as twice in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in 1999 and 2004.
Of the 11 non-conference games expected here is what we now know:
November 20: vs. North Carolina (Uncasville, CT, Hall of Fame Tipoff)
November 21: vs. Tennessee/Villanova (Uncasville, CT, Hall of Fame Tipoff)
December 12: vs. North Carolina State (Brooklyn, NY)
December 18(?): vs. Butler (Crossroads Classic)
TBD: Indiana State
TBD: (early December): ACC/Big Ten Challenge (likely home game)
The remaining six games seem likely to be against mid- to low-majors. Two of those games will be campus site games as part of the Hall of Fame Tipoff.
