Rondale Moore was selected in the 2nd round.
Derrick Barnes was selected in the 4th round.
Tyler Coyle was signed as an undrafted free agent.
Grant Hermanns was signed as an undrafted free agent.
We now have four new Boilermakers ready to make their mark in the NFL.
Rondale Moore got into the perfect situation. I was telling the guys before the draft, he needs to go somewhere that has an innovative offense mind. A traditional offense in the NFL won’t work with him.
He has a diverse skill set, can return kicks, play in the slot, play out of the backfield and can line up out wide if need be.
Rondale will have a great young quarterback in Kyler Murray and will be surrounded by offensive talent. Deandre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Christian Kirk, Kenyan Drake and then of course, Kyler Murray.
Kliff Kingsbury will get the most out of Rondale in his offense. He will be creative and innovative with him. I am excited to see how he will fit into that offense and how dynamic he will be with Kyler Murray at quarterback.
For Derrick Barnes, I am not sure there was a better place for him, in terms of early playing time.
The Detroit defense in 2020 was terrible, he may be a candidate to walk in and start, even as a 4th round pick. Their new coach seems absolutely insane, but I love that he has an aggressive mindset on both offense and defense.
The way the front office drafted for him, showed that. Barnes will be a solid Linebacker there and will surprise a lot of Lions fans.
For Tyler Coyle, he is headed to a depleted Dallas secondary and will have a legit shot of making the 53 man. He did not play much for Purdue this season, sadly, but he has a plethora of experience at UCONN and tested out of his mind.
I have a gut feeling that if he did play a lot this year, he would have been a solid day 3 selection. I think he will make the team as an UDFA or at least, practice squad.
Grant Hermanns is headed to the Big Apple. The Jets need a miracle on the offensive line and they drafted a few guys for that. Especially with Zach Wilson now headed there.
While Grant was undrafted, he as 4 years of experience and tested as one of the better athletes at tackle. He has an up hill climb, but I think he has a chance to make the practice squad as a rookie.
NFL Teams all over needs Offensive Line depth, Grant could provide that.
I am looking forward to seeing all of these guys at the next level.
My Rondale Moore jersey is on its way already!
