Who has left us? Who have we gained?

The NCAA Football Transfer Portal is THRIVING! It seems like every single day, there are another dozen or so athletes joining the portal.

For Purdue, it has been in spurts. Right after the season, during the winter and a couple here now that spring ball is over. Do not be surprised if at the end of the semester, we lose a couple more to the portal.

Here is a quick breakdown of the movement in the Portal for Purdue.

Players Lost:

Amad Anderson Junior - Headed to Temple

  • The wide receiver should have 3 seasons left to participate at Temple, with the 2020 Covid Season allowing for an additional year. I personally would have loved Amad to come back and play the slot for us, but he went another direction and decided to go closer to home.

Jared Sparks - UL-Monroe

  • Jared started at QB for Purdue, but then transitioning to Wide Receiver in his 2nd year. It always seemed like he was on the edge of taking control of a starting spot, just for an injury to occur. He will join his brother at ULM.

Tirek Murphy - Still looking for a home.

  • The former 4 star running back is still looking for home. He got in trouble early with a marijuana issue. It was a surprise to me that he decided to leave with all of the available snaps at running back.

Da’Joun Hewitt - Still looking for a home.

  • Another running back transfer, Hewitt decided to leave, which I saw as another surprise. He played in 6 games for Purdue in his two seasons.

Dylan Downing - Coming to Purdue from NLV

  • Purdue will be getting a local prospect from Carmel, Indiana. He will help add depth to the running back position.

Tyler Witt - Offensive Line Transfer from WKU

  • Automatic starter at Right Guard. No need for further explanation.

Joseph Anderson - Defensive Line Transfer from South Carolina

  • The former 4 star defensive lineman is headed to West Lafayette from South Carolina. He will have three years left and provide some depth on the defensive line, he could even start.

OC Brothers - Linebacker transfer from Auburn

  • OC is coming up from Auburn and could be a guy that plays a lot early on. He will have three years left to play.

CJ McWilliams

  • A Florida Corner transfer, he will be in the mix to start at the corner spots.
