As the college basketball off-season progresses, the 2021-22 non-conference schedule for the Purdue Boilermakers will start to fill up. A familiar foe has already been added to the lineup in Indiana State per Jon Rothstein.

The Sycamores traveled to West Lafayette this past season, playing relatively well before Purdue asserted their dominance winning by a score of 80-68. This was also the game that Trevion Williams came off the bench to put up a monster 30 point, 11 rebound performance in the win.
Oddly enough, these teams have only faced off 5 times total, all coming since the 2006-07 season. Indiana State won the first contest, but the Boilermakers have dominated the series since as they have won four straight games coming by double-digits.
(Ed. note: Purdue and Indiana State have, in fact, played 34 times, with Purdue winning 30 of them)
Up until last season, they had not faced off since 2010 when Purdue won by a score of 65-52 and being led by a 31 point performance from JaJuan Johnson at Conseco Fieldhouse.
It is being reported that the game will take place in Mackey Arena on November 12th, 2021 but the schools have yet to officially announce it. Hopefully, this matchup will become a more common game amongst the Indiana schools since the Sycamores have had a bit of success in recent seasons as a part of the Missouri Valley Conference.
