When Karissa McLaughlin announced her decision to transfer from the Purdue Women’s Basketball program, many believe she would be highly sought after by top programs. It would appear they were right as she has committed to the Marquette Golden Eagles as a graduate transfer.

This is a very good get for Megan Duffy and Marquette as their leading scorer Selena Lott appears to be headed for the WNBA Draft. Along with Lott, their second-leading scorer Lauren Van Kleunen is a redshirt senior but there is no word on whether or not she would use her extra year of eligibility next season.
They also have an extremely strong junior class heading into next season, and adding McLaughlin to the mix is very valuable if one or both Van Kleunen and Lott decide to move on.
Purdue and Marquette had vastly different years last season as the Boilermakers went just 7-16 with just 2 wins coming in 2021. McLaughlin’s new school however had a reasonable amount of success placing second in the Big East behind powerhouse UConn with a record of 19-7 and 14-4 during conference play.
It is tough to see such a great player leave the program, but Purdue fans will be wishing McLaughlin the best in her future endeavors. Good luck, Karissa. Boiler Up.
