This year’s Indiana High School Basketball State Tournament has a lot of interest for Purdue fans. There are three in-state commitments playing and all three are among the favorites to win the state title in their respective classes:
- Fletcher Loyer has Homestead ranked No. 1 in Class 4A and perfect at 22-0 headed into the tournament. Class 4A is the state’s toughest class, however, with a ton of good teams.
- Trey Kaufman won the Class 3A title in 2019 and his team was one of the favorites in the last 16 last year before COVID shut down the tournament. Silver Creek enters the tournament at 18-4 and ranked No. 2 in Class 3A.
- Caleb Furst also won a title in 2019, in Class A, and it moved his Ft. Wayne Blackhawk Christian team up in class as a result. They are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A at 21-3 entering sectional play.
As always, it should be a lot of fun.
