Unlike previous years CBS didn’t draw this out and make us all rage tweet. Instead they went region by region as they should do every single year. The bracket in its entirety is below. For now let’s take a look at the South Region where Purdue landed.
First off, Purdue plays on Friday. To answer your next question, no we do not yet know the time or the location. What we do know is that Purdue won’t be playing at Mackey Arena as that is not allowed under the NCAA rules. We also know the first round opponent. That will be Mean Green of North Texas. We will see Purdue Pete/The Boilermaker Special against Scrappy the Eagle.
North Texas was 17-9 on the season and finished 3rd in Conference USA. They played just one ranked team on the year and lost that game 50-62 against West Virginia. In the second round, should Purdue win, they will face the winner of the 5/12 matchup featuring Villanova and Winthrop. The early Twitter chatter mentions Villanova as vulnerable to that 5/12 upset. We shall see. For now Purdue will focus on North Texas. Much more to come on the first round game for Purdue as the location and time will be announced later on. When we know you will know. For now, take a look at the bracket below and game out Purdue’s trip to the Final Four. Let us know how far you’ve got Purdue going in the comments.
