At this point they should just name the award “The Purdue freshman of the week” and just go from there. It might be easier on everyone involved. This is the fourth week in a row that a Purdue player has won this award and the sixth time overall.

It really comes as no surprise this week as Ivey played like a grown man against Maryland and Northwestern. You can see the stats in the tweet above but an average of 17 points and 5.5 rebounds per game plus an eye popping 3 assists is gonna win you some awards nearly every time. Perhaps most importantly though was the free throw shooting 10-11 in the two games including 100% from the line against Northwestern in a game where Purdue’s free throw shooting was the difference in the game.
Oh, he also did this:
Here's the thing: If @BoilerBall is playing, we should all expect something special from @IveyJaden.

Well, check out today's example: pic.twitter.com/Hh8TAGwvVm
So that’s Ivey getting a steal, going coast to coast, and finishing at the rim with a fantastic slam. It was truly a work of art.
We’ve begun to see more and more of this from Ivey as his talent and hard work are starting to show. It’s always tough as a freshman but the lights are constantly getting brighter for this young man and I don’t expect it to slow down this season. Coach Painter really grabbed a great group of young players with these freshmen.
The team, and the fantastic freshman, are next in action Thursday against Minnesota.
