I was sitting in an empty Bankers Life Fieldhouse when everything went sideways on March 12, 2020. The Big Ten Tournament was cancelled, everything was shut down for weeks, and we have been living in a virtual hellscape since. It is currently March 340th with no end in sight, but at least we’re running things back as the Big Ten Tournament was moved from Chicago back to Indianapolis:
Next month’s Big Ten men’s basketball tournament will move from Chicago to Indianapolis, with games played at Lucas Oil Stadium, according to FOX59.
The games will be played from March 10 through March 14.
Logistically this makes a lot of sense. It allows for the city to have a dry run for the following week’s NCAA Tournament. The Big Ten women’s tournament was already scheduled for Bankers Life Fieldhouse, so the men will be playing on the two-court setup over at Lucas Oil Stadium.
It will also help the NCAAs as 8-10 of the 68 teams will already be in Indianapolis when hat gets going. The Horizon League Tournament will also be going on at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum March 8-9. Purdue can set up shop a week early for what is hopefully a long stay.
