This was more or less assumed after the Minnesota game.
How do I nominate Newman for freshman of the week? Cc @bigten

I honestly didn’t have any doubt that Newman would win the award this week. He played the best game of his career this week. Throwing in 29 points and grabbing six boards all but assured this award. On the season Newman is shooting an incredible 43.8%/44%/96%. That’s a really good looking slash line right there. Newman has grown into this moment after coming on a bit quieter than Ivey or Edey. Things are looking up and it’s easy to see that the future is bright for Newman.
In addition, Purdue is now the only team in conference history to ever have four different freshman win this award during the same season. This became true last week when Jaden Ivey won the award last week but we didn’t know that at the time of posting. The future, and the present to be quite honest, looks bright for Purdue men’s basketball.
