Recently Adam Finegan of the Purdue Center for Cancer Research Advisors Board contacted me regarding the upcoming Hammer Down Cancer games. Since my mother is a cancer survivor Iw as more than happy to help spread awareness. This Saturday is the football Hammer Down Cancer game, and this is what Adam had to say:

Every year, a series of athletic games connects the Boilermaker community’s love for football, basketball and finding a cure for cancer. The Hammer Down Cancer games raise money for the Purdue Center for Cancer Research (PCCR), one of only seven National Cancer Institute designed Basic Laboratory Cancer Centers in the US.

The Purdue Center for Cancer Research translates ideas into innovative technology and therapeutics that improve lives. More than 125 researchers representing seven colleges and over 20 departments across campus come together through Purdue’s Center for Cancer Research to fight cancer. Importantly, this research is working; with multiple drugs in the pipelines, hundreds of patents, and many active clinical trials, Purdue is truly hammering down cancer.
