NCAA Football: Iowa at Purdue Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Heading to Iowa City is never an easy road trip. Heading to face an Iowa team that is ranked No. 2 is especially daunting because Purdue has not beaten a top 5 team away from Ross-Ade Stadium since 1974. The Hawkeyes boast one of the best defenses in the country and cause an enormous amount of havoc with turnovers. They have forced 11 in the last two games alone.

I tend to think Purdue has a better shot than most, however.

1. Their offense is not good. If you can get a lead and not turn the ball over can they come back?

2. They have forced 11 turnovers in two games. That has to run out at some point, right?

3. We have David Bell. He had 32 receptions for 318 yards and 4 TDS in the last two years against them. He is an Iowa killer.

4. Brohm is 3-1 against Ferentz, so he kind of has his number.

5. In all four games under Brohm Purdue has had a receiver go absolutely nuts. In addiiton to Bell’s two games Terry Wright had a 6-146-3 games in 2018 and Anthony Mahoungiu had a 7-135-2. Those last two guys were “career day” numbers.

6. They are coming off of a massive home night game. Purdue had a bye. Allegedly that helps.

I think we have a better chance here than we do at Ohio State, and we do have an active winning streak in games against top 5 teams, so...
