This year allowed everyone a free year of eligibility if the players chose to use it. Smiley mostly played nickel corner for Purdue the last 3 seasons.
He also spent some time spotting at safety when needed.
His move on from football is not all that surprising, 6 years in college is a LONG time. Simeon arrived to Purdue in 2016, a year before Coach Jeff Brohm arrived on campus, but played immediately as a redshirt freshman.
