We actually owe Indiana a larger debt now. Two seasons ago their unexpected two-game sweep of Michigan State allowed Purdue to tie for its 24th Big Ten championship. Now the Hoosiers did us another favor, as their win over Iowa last night may have opened the door to a 25th title. If Purdue wins tonight (and it is a big “if’), the Boilers will suddenly be only a game out in the loss column from first place with 10 games to play, plus it would secure the tiebreaker over Michigan.
There is still a long way to go, but surprise Big Ten titles are fun to think about.
