Kyle Guy joined me for an interview after his season ended with the Sacramento Kings just a short time ago to discuss many topics including a lengthy conversation about the infamous Elite 8 game against our very own Purdue Boilermakers. Special thank you to our fearless leader T-Mill for allowing me to share this with you guys!
You can watch the full episode below and scroll down for an outline of our conversation!
During the interview, Kyle and I discussed:
- Kyle’s crazy rookie season during the Covid-19 pandemic.
- What life was really like in the NBA bubble.
- Virginia’s path from losing to a 16 seed to becoming NCAA Champions the next season.
- The insane Elite 8 game with Purdue in 2019.
- Him and Carsen Edwards going back and forth during the game.
- How Carsen Edwards was one of only three players he says “dominated” the Virginia defense during his time with the Cavaliers. Hint: (The other two players were top 3 picks in the NBA Draft.)
- Growing up playing on the Indiana AAU scene with former Boilermaker Ryan Cline.
- Why he chose to go to Virginia over Big Ten schools like Purdue, Indiana and Michigan.
- The culture of high school basketball in the state of Indiana.
- Using his platform to create change and help the community through the Kyle Guy Foundation.
