31 Days to Purdue Football: Nick Zecchino

We get the starting long snapper today.

NCAA Football: Purdue at Missouri Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Hey! we actually are allegedly 31 days from Purdue Football. Sure, it is at Michigan now instead of at Nebraska, but football is football even with a ruthless September schedule. one of the players certain to play that today is today’s player.

Nick Zecchino - Sr.

Cedar Grove, NJ (Cedar Grove HS)

6’, 190 pounds

Long Snapper

2020 Projection: Starter at long snapper

Getting a transfer long snapper is pretty rare, but that is what we got in Zecchino. He started his career in 2016 by playing in all 12 game for UConn. He then did not play until making the roster last year and winning the starting job as long snapper. He was effective as well. Long snapping has a thin margin for error as one poor snap can be disastrous (just look at the 1998 Alamo Bowl).

Zecchino was just fine in 2019, however, and he should be again this year. He was even a quarterback in high school, so accuracy is his specialty.
