A few days ago, local up and coming point guard, Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn, from McCutcheon High School, tweeted that he received an offer from Coach Matt Painter.
Gibbs-Lawhorn is a sophomore to be, but after a dominating freshman season, where he was the unquestioned best player on his team, he has started to open the eyes of some of the Big Ten Schools.
But, Coach Painter was the first one to offer, trying to get in on the local prospect before others. He has fielded interest from IU and Michigan State as well to date.
With Coach Painter offering so early, this will garner the opportunity to build a unique relationship with the local player. Painter and his staff will be able to attend as many games as they are allowed to, with it being such a short drive over.
While currently unranked, I think it is safe to say the 6’, 170 pound Point Guard will be right there in the 4* range, at minimum. As a freshman he averaged over 21 point per game while providing the Lafayette area another star in the making to watch,
Congratulations, Dravyn. Boiler Up!
