Well, it is allegedly 58 days to Purdue football, at least. We may have to put this series on pause for a bit, but since Purdue was expected to start the season on September 5 against a conference opponent we will continue unitl told otherwise.
Branson Deen - So.
Indianapolis, IN (Lawrence Central HS)
6’2”, 265 pounds
2020 Projection: Contributor on the Defensive Line
Making it as a defensive lineman in the Big Ten is tough. Unless you are an adonis like George Karlaftis it generally means a redshirt year and some major bulking up. That has been Deen so far. He redshirted in 2018, then became a reserve last year, appearing in nine games. He finished hte year with eight tackles and a pass breakup.
This coming season he projects as a key reserve, playing a few snaps per game in order to rest other guys. That is still an important spot.
Jimmy McKenna - So.
Avon, OH (Avon HS)
6’5”, 300 pounds
2020 Projection: Potential Starter
With the offensive line being in flux having experience can be key. last season coming out of redshirt McKenna got some experience, playing in three games as a reserve. He projects as a tackle and could end up this coming season as a starter on the right side of the line. He spent much of last season on the two deep, so he could definitely contribute this coming season.
