Being a walk-on long snapper is a unique way to get to the field. There is only one spot to compete for, and if there is an incumbent he is hard to beat. You basically have to wait for a bad snap on a punt or placement, and it has been a long time since we have seen that. Thus today’s player will likely be waiting to see the field.

Long Snapper
2020 Projection: Likely redshirt
Purdue is probably set at long snapper this year. Senior Nick Zecchino entered the program last season as a junior and filled in extremely well. Hunter McDonald is a local prospect from Crown Point that is thought of as the heir apparent. Weneta is a newcomer. Rubio Long Snapping, which is the AUTHORITY in all things long snapping, rated him as the No. 12 long snapper in the 2020 class and a definite Division I prospect. His twitter bio lists him as switching to USC, however, even though he is listed on the Purdue website as being on the roster.
Since he is on the roster we will still welcome him, however.
