Today we feature a player that is entering his fourth year in the program, but he is still trying to find his place.

Robert McWilliams III - Jr.

South Miami, FL (Coral Gables HS)

6’4”, 230 pounds

Defensive End

2020 Projection: Reserve

McWilliams comes from an area I know very well, as he went to Coral Gables High: the home of Da U. He grew up int he shadow of that great program and had a great final season with 75 tackles and 10 sacks in 2016. That was enough for Darrell Hazell to offer him in his final full class. His team had an excellent 10-2 season with four shutouts defensively.

It appeared that McWilliams would come in with a lot of promise, and after redshirting in 2017 he was mentioned as a possible contributor in several articles leading up to the 2018 season. Unfortunately, that has not worked out. In the last two seasons he has played in just eight games total, getting his sole career tackle against Illinois in 2018.

McWilliams has twice been an Academic all-Big Ten selection in his career, and hopefully he can provide depth on the defensive line this season.
